Bones Jugs takes listeners on a musical adventure.  With bones, jug, xylophone, kazoos, resonator guitar, 6-string banjo, banjo-mandolin, upright bass, horns, washboard and a medley of knick-knacks and noise makers Bones Jugs conjures up their eclectic acoustic sound. It’s a 21st century spin on early American music, that includes, but is not limited to, ragtime, dixieland, jugband, bluegrass, blues, string band, skiffle, spasm, swing and more. Whether it be with: original songs,  hidden gems of the written or recorded archives, or a unique take on modern music, Bones Jugs places their unique stamp on everything they play.

It all began in Urbana, IL in 2013. The band formed to play jugband and ragtime xylophone music, look how far we've come! Bones Jugs would play at local community gatherings including farmers markets, potlucks, birthday party's, late night patio hangs, and more. The more the band played the more fun was had, and, the more fun that was had, the more the band wanted to play. New instruments have been added, and others taken out, and added back. New and old songs have had the same fate. But the spirit of it has remained the same! A mission to spread joy, and inspire curiosity through sound that is crafted by a skilled hand, a dedicated heart, and a commitment to fun.

Since the bonesin' around began the band has played near-about 500 shows, recorded 2 full lengths albums, 10 original arrangements of George Hamilton Green songs, as well as a flurry of videos, and our original homemade experimental soundscapes known as The Episodes.
